Maple Walnut Cake
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the maple syrup and mix well. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
